I am looking for a vitamin that will promote the health of my liver. Any ideas?

28 Nov

I already take a multivitamin and fish oil (for my heart). Is there a website out there that gives more detail regarding vitamins?

You should contact a Naturopath: http://www.naturopathic.org/, they can help with a complete diet and supplement plan. That way you don’t wind up with an imbalance or under dosage. Good Luck!

HEALTH ALERT!! – 1 of 5: VITAMINS & MINERALS TO BE BANNED!!! (CODEX ALIMENTARIOUS)

26 Nov

Codex Alimentarius is scheduled for full global implementation on December 31st, 2009, and not a word has been spoken in main stream media about this threat to humanity.
The principle of self medication with herbal/vitamin/mineral food supplements would be restricted to prescription only status, if the Codex Alimentarius is applied in the UK and elsewhere, particularly the USA.
(UK only) Since the NHS priorities are ill health diagnosis and treatment, the good health preservation that supplements provide will be inaccessible to the majority of our population and the cost to the NHS will increase.
According to the projections based on figures from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a minimum of 3 billion people will die from the Codex mandated vitamin and mineral guidelines alone.

How important is to take a daily vitamin for one’s health?

26 Nov

My mother says that I should start taking a daily multivitamin supplement every day now that I’m "growing" (I’m 25). Is it necessary?

If you’re getting all the nutrients you need from your food, then you don;t need to take a multi vitamin, but who has time to make sure that they eat a balanced diet these days? – most people don’t ,so end up deficient in something without a vitamin supplement,

How much health benefit is lost by chewing a vitamin lozenge?

25 Nov

I bought some "lozenges" that are suppose to help you from getting sick. They have vitamin C and Zinc in them. The box says to let them dissolve in your mouth but they are nasty tasting. Is it really going to make a difference if I just chew it up and wash it down with some water?

The vitamin C, no, that doesn’t matter. However, the Zinc does matter. Studies show that if you shallow the zinc in one dose, it doesn’t do much to boost your immune system. Only by slow constant absorption such as a lozenge that zinc helps boost your immune system.

Is taking Vitamin D in your twenties advantagious for your overal health, now and later in life?

22 Nov

Along with eating healthy and exercising, what other vitamins are good to take while in your twenties to imporve overll health for the future? thanks :) Im just curious because I wanted to start taking vitamin D in order to imporve bone health in the future, and avoid possible arthritis and osteoporosis

YES!! There are recent studies out that show women who are post-menopausal that are Vit D deficent can increase your risk for breast/ovarian/colon cancers and neurologic diorders. It is recommended that you take 1200mg of Calcium and 800iu of Vit D per day. I totally believe in preventative health!!! If you can stop it now before you get that age, why not?!

What is a good vitamin for supporting mental health;such as memory?

18 Nov

I suffered a concussion many years ago and as a result I suffer from bad memory. Please what kind of vitamins/supplements will help this problem?

Vitamins are necessary in small amounts for normal metabolism. If you are eating a regular balanced diet there is no need for a vitamin supplement. Most claims of vitamin/supplement suppliers about vitamins or any other supplement enhancing mental processes or memory are hoaxes. There is no scientific foundation to my knowledge for anything you eat contributing to better memory or mental function (except perhaps some prescription drugs to treat mental disorders).

In a new study, researchers at the Moores Cancer Center and Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, UC San Diego used a complex computer prediction model to determine that intake of vitamin D3 and calcium would prevent 58,000 new cases of breast cancer and 49,000 new cases of colorectal cancer annually in the US and Canada. The researchers model also predicted that 75% of deaths from these cancers could be prevented with adequate intake of vitamin D3 and calcium. Can drinking to much vitamin water hurt my health?

16 Nov

I drink 2 20oz bottles a day that’s a lot of vitamin C can it hurt me or make me sick?

Excess vitamin C can be a problem, as shown in a 2001 University of Florida study. All the literature I’ve read recommends that you get your vitamin C from fruits and veggies, not supplements.

Can vitamin supplements improve your health?

14 Nov

Defend your answer. Make sure you discuss the arguments for and against taking supplements – and potential for negative health effects.

yes vitamins, but not diet pills. If they are actual vitamins than they can help you to have more energy and support breast health for women, plus can lower cholesterol and help with your heart.

Is getting vitamin C injections good for health and mainly skin? Does it really make the skin flawless?

13 Nov

I’m thinking of getting vitamin C injections to make my skin (mainly face) look less fatigue and more energetic and lively.

That’s a new one to me! Have you thought of actually ingesting the vitamin and/or taking a good multi-vitamin, eating right (lots of salads, fruits, and veggies) and of course, getting a good night’s sleep (8 hours). Also, don’t smoke and drink to excess, wear moisturizer and sun block.
